T-Mobile Adds 56 Additional Cities To HSPA+ 42Mbps Markets

An unexpected but welcome surprise is tonights addition of 56 markets to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42Mbps network which now covers more than 170 million people in 152 markets. In addition to enjoying the increased network speeds customers will “also enjoy increased network capacity and reliability.”
“America’s Largest 4G Network is now faster than ever and continues to deliver a fast and reliable broadband experience in more places than any other carrier,” said Neville Ray, chief technology officer, T-Mobile USA. “Video streaming on T-Mobile’s network has more than tripled over the last year, and consumer demand for access to rich mobile content from anywhere continues to grow. T-Mobile is now supplying more than 170 million Americans with lightning-fast HSPA+ 42 speeds to feed that explosive demand.”
T-Mobile only has one HSPA+ 42Mbps capable device right now in the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 laptop stick though we expect that number to increase by years end. The last line of this release emphasizes T-Mobile’s plan to release its first HSPA+ 42Mbps smartphone later this year. If the rumors are correct it’s possible that the upcoming Samsung Hercules just might be the chosen one but with plenty time left in 2011 it’s anyones guess.
