Microsoft Buys Skype at $8.15 Billion | Enters Voip

Voip world is surely growing and a true indication is that entrance of giants like Google and now Microsoft. Obviously these companies see the scope in this sector and this being the reason for their entry.

Sometime back Google acquired Grandcentral and started Google Voice voip service. Google Voice is growing at good pace. Skype on the other hand is already a grown voip service with huge customer base. If a person has tried voip calling then chances are good that the person has used Skype also. Microsoft has agreed to buy Skype for $8.15 billion dollars.

The boards have agreed and soon Skype will be part of Microsoft now. Ballmer will be heading Skype! So what is the benefit to the end user :

Microsoft has soo many variations of device like Xbox, Windows mobile, your PC windows. So soon you will see pre installed Skype in all these devices. It will be more user friendly, as like windows, Skype will be available to large number of people. At this point, it will be difficult to say about any rate changes or end user design changes but Skype is now gonna reach a good user base.

I don't think there will be any change in at present Skype free service like Free Pc to Pc calls. With Microsoft takeover, it will be good if Skype launches more free phone calling like Google Voice. The battle between Google and Microsoft enters the voip world but its all good for end user. Some good quality calls, good calling plans, more user friendly features, good customer support.!
