Mobile Voip Banned in Egypt

Well, this is a sad new for people of Egypt. Egypt has banned international calls made through mobile VoIP internet connections, including Skype.

This ban applies to three big mobile operation in Egypt: Mobinil, Etisalat Egypt and Vodafone Egypt. The ban is on Skype on mobile internet, not on fixed, and this is due to the fact it is against the law since it bypasses the legal gateway.

They wants that the international calls must pass through a network controlled by majority state-owned Telecom Egypt. This is not clarified that whether the ban will be extended to which other mobile voip operators.

In my opinion, this ban will simply ask for more hackers to bypass this ban and soon a method will come to use mobile voip in Egypt, much like many voip providers now offering calls to and from UAE.
