So once you set the temperature for the room for example 70 deg in AC mode, the compressor outside will run and then will shut off once the room is 70 deg, but the indoor unit will keep running to circulate and clean the air. Once the temp of the room jumps up to 75 deg or example, the compressor outside will turn on again and bring the temp in the room down to 70 deg.
The only time it will turn off is if you shut it off Or have it set on a timer setting.
