Slimmer LCDs from Sharp

What is the saying? No pain no gain! Well for anybody that has been on a diet and slimmed down you will know that there is usually some pain involved, but in the case of the new D64U, the latest addition to the Aquos LCD TVs from Sharp, that may not be the case.

Apparently some creative re-engineering has helped reduce the size. Add to that the thinnest screen on the market providing a 176 degree viewing angle, some tightly squeezed in speakers and you get the new slimmed down models.

The good news is that the specifications still remain high on the 1080p line, with HDMI inputs, component and composite inputs on both the side and rear, where you will also find a dedicated PC input along with the RS-232C and S-video.With the inputs compatible with 1080p signals from Blu-ray and gaming devices this is a pretty big, small TV.

There will be a 42-inch $2,099.99, 46-inch $2,699.99, and 52-inch $3,799.99 available in August and there is a 65-inch scheduled for September but no price as of yet.

And . if you hadnt noticed already from the picture, it is a pretty cool way of demonstrating your (lack of) size compared to your competitors.
