Mobile Voip Banned in Egypt

Well, this is a sad new for people of Egypt. Egypt has banned international calls made through mobile VoIP internet connections, including Skype.

This ban applies to three big mobile operation in Egypt: Mobinil, Etisalat Egypt and Vodafone Egypt. The ban is on Skype on mobile internet, not on fixed, and this is due to the fact it is against the law since it bypasses the legal gateway.

They wants that the international calls must pass through a network controlled by majority state-owned Telecom Egypt. This is not clarified that whether the ban will be extended to which other mobile voip operators.

In my opinion, this ban will simply ask for more hackers to bypass this ban and soon a method will come to use mobile voip in Egypt, much like many voip providers now offering calls to and from UAE.

LocalPhone : Free Voip credit to make free calls

I have been using Localphone for a while now. LocalPhone offers very reliable service with cheap calling rates (localphone keep on revising its rates time to time offering competitive calling rates). Current rate to make calls to India using localphone is 1.8 cents per minute.

The best part about Localphone is that it offers so many ways to make calls. You can use it as a calling card, or you can use localphone direct service (using local access numbers for each of your contact). You can get localphone incoming numbers and let people from other countries contact you. Or you can use localphone softphone to make Pc to phone calls/use SIP settings by localphone to make SIP calls.

Well this post is not for discussing about LocalPhone but its about the latest offer by localphone. I recently got a mail from localphone in which I got some free credit by localphone (about $1.5) to make free calls.

Mail says "We’ve added $1.50 of free credit to your LocalPhone account. A lot has changed since you first registered and we’re so confident you’ll love our latest rates and features that we want you to give us another try completely free. Don’t delay though, because any unused free credit will expire at 12:00 GMT (noon) on Monday 18th January. ".

If you have also received any such mails (with free voip credit) then do let us know. Check your LocalPhone account or make one for making cheap voip calls.

Update : Localphone is running a promotional offer. When you sigh up with $1 credit, you will get $2.5 credit. That's additional $1.5 credit as bonus.

(No expiry of credit, good voice quality, and sign up with as low as $1).

iCallPakistan : Unlimited Calls from Pakistan and Unlimited Calls to Pakistan

While surfing the internet, I came across another voip provider which is offering unlimited calls from Pakistan and unlimited calls to Pakistan. If you check out various voip providers, you will notice that calling rate to Pakistan are not cheap, with most offering call rates of about 10 cents per minute.

Does that mean, there is no way by which you can connect to your loved ones in Pakistan. Actually there is a cheap way. You can get a Pakistan phone number in USA and people from Pakistan can call you. Now all calls will be redirected/forwarded to your USA number and you can talk for as long as you like (since the Incoming calls on this number are free).

There are many such voip services which offer a Pakistan Incoming number (famous localphone). iCallPakistan is similar service. iCallPakistan offers three such calling plans. (ICallPakistan also offers outgoing calling plans to Pakistan with calling rate to Pakistan of 10.5 cents/min).

iCall Pakistan Unlimited : for $16.99
iCall Pakistan Complete : for $30.99
iCall Pakistan commercial : for $89.99

The bad part is there is no difference listed between these three plans which makes it difficult for people to trust the service. Rest is similar with other voip providers. If anyone is using iCallPakistan or have used it in the past then do please let us know. It would be great if you could write a small review in the comment section.

PS : If you are looking for free voip calls to India then surf this blog more. We have posted a lot of offers to make free calls to India.
