Indian telecom companies offering cheap calls to US & Canada

Seems that Indian telecom is now feeling the presence of Voip. With start of a few voip providers in India, calls to US, Canada and some other countries was very cheap. A lot of business started moving to voip for their calling needs. Specially the US companies in India make full use of Voip and save a lot on phone bills by making cheap voip calls.

While I was just surfing on my phone, I came across an offer by Idea (one of major telecom in India). The offer was you can make calls to USA and Canada for 1 paisa per sec. That's 60 paisa per minute, almost 1.2 cent per min. This calling rate is very comparable to what voip companies are offering, instead the price is cheaper then the voip companies. If you compare the price with the local and STD rates in India, then my local/STD calling rate is also the same (1 paisa per sec).

The time is here in India, when the local/STD/ISD calls cost you the same amount. This seems great for Indian telecom. The next thing to look out for is call rates dropping for other countries.

So for all our NRI living in USA, your friends and relatives from India can themselves call you from India.

Please share your views !!

Net4.in Voip Home Calling Plans : India

Lately there have been a lot of advertisements about voip in India and unlimited voip calls from India. net4.in is one such voip provider creating this buzz. I thought to check net4.in and its individual plans that is home voip plans, if its any good for people.

net4.in offers a wide range of voip plans for home users. These are Phonewala Home/ SOHO Plans that enable you to use internet connection to make and receive phone calls at very low rates, basically voip calls. So firstly you require Internet (broadband connection) at your home in order to make these calls. I am not sure, but these internet charges are not included in their calling plan rates.

Lets check out the various plans net4.in offers:

1. Homeland Plan : Rs 599/month
500 minutes* of calls to US/UK/Canada
Outgoing calls to landline and mobile destinations (except UK mobile).

I think this plan is not so good as you can make calls to USA/UK for free using Voip or most other voip provider are offering calls to USA/UK at 1 cent per minute (40-50 paisa per min).

2. One World: Available in Rs 100/250/500/1000 denominations
Call anywhere* in the world @ Re 1 per minute only.
Terms & Conditions
* Re 1 per minute applicable to more than 40 countries.
* Re 1 per minute applicable to landline destinations only.
* Calls to rest of the destinations available at Rs 10 per minute.
* For US, Canada, China, Hongkong , Thailand, and Singapore, calls to mobile destinations at Re 1 per minute.
* Validity of 30 days on Rs 100, Rs 250, and Rs 500 packs.
* Validity of 90 days on Rs 1000 pack.

Again as I said before the plan looks costly to me.

3. Gulf Gold:
Call more than 45 Gulf & European countries @ Rs 8 per minute.*
Terms & Conditions
* Rs 8 per minute applicable on calls all destinations.
* Validity of 30 days on Rs 500 pack.
* Validity of 90 days on Rs 1000 pack.

4. Unlimited Silver: US/ Canada
Unlimited* calls to US/Canada @ Rs 2499 per month only.
Terms & Conditions
* One month validity and maximum 3000 minutes per month.

Again a very costly plan.

5. Unlimited Silver: US/ Canada/ UK Unlimited* calls to US/Canada @ Rs 2999 per month only.
Terms & Conditions
* One month validity and maximum 3000 minutes per month.

Well, net4.in home plans are not at all cheap if you compare them to other voip providers. But if you compare net4.in international calling rates to your normal telecom provider then its way cheaper for many countries. So, if you are thinking of shifting to voip from your normal telecom provider then net4.in is a good option. We will soon also review their business plans.

Dabous offering Cheap Phone to Phone calls

Hi,

Voip is growing and it is quite evident from the increasing number of voip providers. Another entry in voip market is of Dabous.

Dabous is offering cheap phone to phone calls using access numbers. You can use Dabous to call India from your regular phone (mobile or landline) at just 4cents/min. Well the rate is not much considering it is phone to phone calling service and not PC to Phone.

However, Dabous is only available for people of USA. Dabous only provides USA access number.

Some other features of Dabous are -:
Use your existing phone number
View your calls any time
Add up to 5 phone numbers (Cell, Home, Office, etc..)
No contract, No hassle, Pay as you go
1 Minute rounding, no tricks

At this point of time, Dabous is currently offering phone to phone service, but I read in one of the forums that Dabous is testing its SIP service, and soon you will be able to use Dabous via SIP.
We will post Dabous SIP settings as soon as we came to know about it.

For now to make cheap phone calls using Dabous voip -
Sign up and Register up to 5 PINless phone numbers
Call access Number 1-317-682-1667, and Dabous will prompt you for your desitnation number, if you call from unrecognized number, Dabous will prompt you for a PIN Number, which is available in "My Account" Page.
Dial the International destionation number in this format: 011 + Country Code + Number + #
View your call history any time with the exact cost of the call.

Overall, Dabous service seems good (I guess voice quality is also good, read in one of their reviews) but only concern are their calling rates. With many other cheap and good voip services around, Dabous needs to bring some different features or plans to attract customers.

Cheers to growth of Voip.

Unlimited Calling Annual plan by Teleblend

Hi,

We have been suggesting people to make use of voip for making phone calls. A large number of people living in USA and Canada have already replaced their traditional calling system with voip phones. Even many offices in India, small and large businesses have shifted to voip for making national and international calls and must say they must be saving lot of money at this time of recession.

Now once you have decided that you want to use voip for making phone calls, next is to decide a voip provider (a package) which suits you and will help you save money. It completely depends what package may suit you but considering that a large part of calls are local calls only (USA to USA, Canada etc) its better to choose a package offering you cheap international calls (Cheap calls to India, Cheap calls to Pakistan) and unlimited calls to USA (I have said this will completely depend on your type of business and target customers).

Anyways, considering an annual plan may be a nice options for several reasons. Firstly no tension of monthly payments, second and most important reason being that it will again save you money. Annual calling plans are much cheaper than monthly packages. These plans have their disadvantages too (service has got to be reliable otherwise you will have to suffer a whole year or cancel your package).

Teleblend, a very well known voip provider has revealed a new annual service plan that will feature a reduced rate for customers who want to pay for an entire year of service in advance.

The annual calling plan plan is available nationwide and features Unlimited calling to the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico for only $169.95 per year. They say that it will help you around $500 (annual).

Teleblend targets to provide a superior home phone service that offers increased functionality, free calling features, unlimited long distance calling and low international rates.

TeleBlend also has a unlimited calling plan for international users (making calls toIndia), the product is called the Free India Plan.

Free Indian plan offered unlimited calling to India, the U.S., and Canada for only $49.95 per month. It is available to new customers nationwide(USA) with no contracts or minimum commitments, it was indeed, one of the first calling plans available that features unlimited calling to India.

Apart from all these calling plans, Teleblend also offers Refer a friend program in which it offers one free month of voip phone calls for each referal.

I was wondering f any voip provider offer annual calling plan for making unlimited calls to India. I guess it will save you lot of money. Do let us know if you know any of such service.

Enjoy Cheap calling...
Cheers...!!
