Airtel Call Home Shutdown Service Closed

This is something new, we have seen very less voip and calling cards provider shutting down their service. On the one hand Spice group bought Mediaringtalk and rebranded as Sunno-voip, and on the other side Airtel Call Home : Airtel Call India Calling Card service is shutting down its voip service.

Reason for this shutdown, closure of AirtelCallHome service is not known. AirtelCallHome mentions on its website that "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Airtel Call Home will not be able to extend its services from 30th June 2011 (2400 hrs)onwards. While we recommend you to consume your available talk time, we assure you that all unutilized talk time balance within the validity period will be duly refunded".

New user Signup is already closed by Airtelcallhome. You will not be able to recharge any further from 5th June ’2011. Toll free/Local Access services shall remain fully functional till 30th June ‘2011.

Regarding the refund of voip credit, AirtelCallhome mentions :
"You may apply for refund by contacting our customer care or write an email. Customer Care will raise trouble ticket and initiate refund. Kindly note that Customer Credit card should not be expired/ blocked at the time of refund, through which original transaction is processed. Refund may take upto 15days and hence it is strongly recommended to consume your balance by 30th June. Standard refund process applies. You may contact the call centre for any clarifications".

I would suggest you to consume your voip credit before the service gets shutdown, as you would like to avoid hurdle of getting refund.

As the calling rates to India have already been very low now, the scope for calling cards is very less. What we see in the future is pure voip calling. I believe people will be switching to mobile voip (with 3G/Wifi facilities already available) and making absolutely free calls on their smartphone.

If you are following Free Pc to Phone Calls blog, then I hope you must be aware of mobile voip apps for smartphones (iPhones, Android, Blackberry, Nokia Mobiles). We have been encouraging people to try video calling on their mobiles. But if you are not even using voip for your international calls then you are losing a lot of money.

AirtelAsia Review: Cheap Calls to India "Mobile CallBack Service"

Another voip service "AirtelAsia", a mobile callback service offering you very cheap rates to call India and other countries. Lets discuss about AirtelAsia, and I am sure many will like this service.

I am not 100% sure, but this AirtelAsia aint a official launch by India telecom major Airtel. Why would they open a new voip service when they already have a great going with Airtel Call Home. And AirtelAsia is located in France (which adds to it that it belong to Airtel).

Anyhow, AirtelAsia still looks a good one but with few points under the shadow. AirtelAsia mentions on their website:

" We, at Airtelasia, We are provide high quality Internet Calling card. It Uses in Mobile, Computer, Ip Device. Specially For Mobile Dialer. our mobile dialer works even with low bandwidth. we assures genuine billing , it will display account balance."

Lets first discuss the method to make calls using AirtelAsia. This is one of the promising part of it, which looks good (if it really works).

1. Send an SMS (acc num and pass) to SMS number mentioned in the Card (after you register, you will get it).
2. Give a miscall to the access number, and wait a few seconds. (A miss call ?? this is new ).
3. Seconds later, your phone rings, answer the call .
4. Now, dial the destination number along with a '#' also don't forget to add the code.

This was the mobile callback method.

AirtelAsia also offers a PC application (softphone) which allows you to make PC to Phone calls. AirtelAsia also offers you SIP settings to that you can make SIP calls (Phone to Phone calls). Use Fring in your mobile.

AirtelAsia SIP settings:
Address: sip:gw.airtelasia.com
Realm: asterisk
Username: Airtelasia user id
Password: Airtelasia a/c password
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060

Lets come to the calling rate part. Now again the rates are cheap which make another reason to try it.

AirtelAsia is offering calls to India at just .9 eurocents per min (less than one eurocent) Approx 1.3 US cents per min. But the rats is not clear - is it for mobile callback method or for SIP calls or PC to Phone calls. OR is the rate common to all.

If that's the case then MobileCallback is the best option to make calls (if you are not charged for sending SMS to that number).
Another good point - 100% moneyback guarantee.

Few points going against them -
1. Clarification about Rates.
2. No proper contact method. They have not even mentioned any mail ID. Just a phone number.
3. No clarification about validity of credit. Connection fees etc.

Overall AirtelAsia looks good, I would suggest people to first contact them up, clear all your doubts then try this service. Please post your review, it will be be of great help to all.

For any other help, do post in comment section. We at Free PC to Phone calls are always there to help you.

AirtelCallhome one cent offer is back : Longer Validity

AirtelCallhome one cent offer came into market some months back (actually the call rate ain't exactly one cent but still..). The offer was not able to attract that many customers as it was expected. This was all because of the better deals other voip providers were offering.

Soon the offer expired but now the Airtel One cent offer has revived and this time with longer validity. This time too the call rate ain't effectively one cent but its about 1.67cent/min. You can call India at just effective rate of 1.67 cent/min with extended validity, superior connectivity.

First lets talk about the plans which AirtelCallhome is offering at this point of time.

India One plan : The $9.99 pack of IndiaOne has a rental of $ 3.99, on the balance $ 6 you get the rate of 1 cent /min on Local Access. Effective rate of 1.67 cent/min. This is applicable on calls terminating on any phone in India. i.e. you get an amazing 600 mins in just $ 9.99 on local access. With the extended validity , you can enjoy the talktime for 45 days. Any talk time value left after expiry of validity will be automatically forfeited.

AirtelCallhome also offers some other plans named "India Magic", "India one Max, India one Neo", "Aapno Gujrat Plan", "Airtel to Airtel Plan". Well these plan aint that attractive and I won't suggest you these plans.

Though the calling rate offerd by India one plan is not cheapest in the market, but if you like to go with a known provider then the reputation of Airtel is good. Some advantages with Airtel is that you are using a calling card so no problems of sticking with Pc while making calls. (Airtel gives local access numbers).

Are you using AirtelCallhome..? Are you satisfied with Airtel..or would like to switch..? Would you suggest AirtelCallhome to others..? Do share your views with us.
