Useful tips for using Google Voice

Google Voice is the next big thing in the voip market. Just after few days of its launch, the internet is flooded with discussions on Google Voice. I hope by now, most of our USA blog readers must have got an invite and joined Google Voice service. So apart from already known famous features of Google Voice, what other additional benefits can you get using Google Voice.

Today we discuss two of the most useful tips of Google Voice.

First making free calls from your mobile phone : I guess most of you have mobile phones like iPhone, blackberry etc. Most of these phones comes with plans of AT&T, T-mobile etc. Now these service providers offer a limited amount of monthly minutes. Some operators offer 'unlimited free minutes' to certain numbers and these numbers are not counted monthly minutes. If you are making calls to Google Voice number (include this in your free calling list) and we know Google voice allows you to call other USA numbers for free, then effectively you got unlimited calls free.
This tip is simple based on fact that Google bears the call charges from Google Voice to other USA phone numbers.

Click a phone number on any page to place a call using Google Voice. Displays your number in the status bar and lists your most recent call when hovered. Select text to send as a text message or dial and text from the status bar.

Google Voice Service opens up : Apply and register

Sometime back, we blogged about the Google voice service. Actually Google took over Grandcentral voip service and launched it in the name of Google Voice. Earlier the Google Voice service was available to only already registered grandcentral users, but now Google Voice service has opened up for other people too.

Google Voice gives users a single number for all their phones. With already such a big name in the internt world, Google Voice is sure to get a huge number of users pretty soon. Google has always been the leader in whatever field it enters, and I am sure its entering the Voip world will create some sort of insecurity in minds of other voip providers.

So, if you have already requested for invitation from Google Voice, you should have got an invite to join their service (or will get it in a few more days). But if you have not filled for an invitation, its time to do so. Just fill this page of Google Voice, and they will send you an invitation to join their service.

Google Voip Service : Google Voice to grandcentral users.

A good news to all voip users. Google Voice, a voip service by Google has been launched though its in beta phase. Actually Google made many improvements to Grandcentral voip service and have relaunched this service in the name of Google Voice.

However this service is not available to all, but Google Voice can be used by Grandcentral users. So, if you are customer of Grandcentral then you can try Google Voice. Apart from Grandcentral default features like One number, screening etc Google Voice has added many other features like SMS support, Conference Calls, low cost calling, Block calls, GOOG-411, Manage groups, Forwarding phones, Voicemail transcripts, Listen to voicemail, Notifications, Personalize greeting and many more.

All Grandcentral users will receive mail about upgrading your voip service to Google Voice. I guess with the launch of Voip service by Google, it will lead to more competition among voip providers. I am sure this will lead to more cheaper calls and voip calls will be free to many countries.

Google has though not mentioned anything about Google Talk service. It is still a confusion, what will happen to Google Talk. Will Google Talk merge with Google Voice or will it remain a seperate service. It may be possible that Google Voice feature be added to Gtalk (Google Talk is already very popular an used by millions).
